“A gender equal society would be one where the gender does not exist: where everyone can be themselves” ---Gloria Steinem

Gender equality is a fundamental human right which is necessary for a prosperous and sustainable development. A society cannot grow unless there is gender equality. Goal 5 of the UNDPs’ sustainable development goals exclusively talks about gender equality and women empowerment. Gender issue is not a women issue and hence to bring equality among all, everyone should come forward with a positive mind-set of eliminating oppression, domination and respecting each other and giving equal opportunity to all. Mankachar college is free from gender bias and discrimination. The college has an active women cell which looks after anyissue related to women faculty members, employees and girls student of the college. The cell is actively involved in organising various awareness programmes on female health and hygiene related issues, gender sensitization, social issues etc. The women cell also organises health check-up camps, workshops on women skill enhancement and employability, and also helps the people of the surrounding areas during any types of emergencies like flood, epidemic etc. by providing relief materials in the form of food and daily essentials.
